“I often hear people say that they read to escape reality, but I believe that what they’re really doing is reading to find reason for hope, to find strength. While a bad book leaves readers with a sense of hopelessness and despair, a good novel, through stories of values realized, of wrongs righted, can bring to readers a connection to the wonder of life. A good novel shows how life can and ought to be lived. It not only entertains but energizes and uplifts readers.”
― Terry Goodkind
Is there not something absolutely magical about fall? The yellow and orange leaves, the crisp chill in the air, big sweaters, hot drinks… It’s the best season. The best thing in the world is to curl up with a hot drink and a good book and watch the leaves fall. Speaking of reading, this post is all about my favorite fall fantasy books! Fantasy and fall just go together in my mind, they both stir up feelings of adventure and magic; that’s what fantasy books are… a huge magical adventure! Fantasy books are absolutely stunning works of art, they take you on an incredible journey where you get to know the characters, their lives and the incredible magical world they live in through upwards of 800 pages of pure greatness. Can you tell that I love fantasy yet?

Here are my favorite fantasy books to curl up and read with my pumpkin spiced latte!
- Wizards First Rule by Terry Goodkind. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this series. This is the first book in a 21 book series called The Sword of Truth, and it was the book that got me into fantasy and will forever be one of my favorite series. He writes incredibly believable, heartfelt characters and sends them on an insane journey across the very dangerous Midlands to stop a crazed leader intent on destroying their world. It is an epic fantasy that will draw you in and will not let you go. Terry Goodkind is an incredible world builder and the world he creates in these books will make you wish you lived there. Seriously. Check out my full post on this amazing series here!
- Wayfarer Redemption by Sara Douglass. I love this book for so many reasons. I love that Sara Douglass is able to create and incorporate different species into her books and have them just fit so wonderfully. I find that it can be difficult to read books with unique species without it sounding weird and unnatural to the rest of the story, but this woman just dominates with her ability to bring characters to life and to create a story that you get sucked into so fast. This is the first book in a 3 book trilogy, and all the others are just as great as the first. I do believe I read this book in about a week and could not put it down. It is simply amazing
